Alacrity Good-to-Know: Trainer Edition

Note: This isn't a newbie guide, it's more of a general "good to know" list (and serves as documentation for myself, because I'll forget if it's not written down). For everything else, there's still your handy dandy, friendly neighborhood Issue Hub to help you out. And also the Alacrity dictionary if you find that I'm speaking gibberish.

[TRAINER Tools]

In a Nutshell

1. Scholar Collar

2. Trainer's Perk

3. An Energy Companion

4. Accessories

5. Foods/Grooming

6. Training Sessions

Will you realistically be using ALL of these? No, probably not. It pretty much just boils down to what you can afford, but this post is made to OPTIMIZE your energy output. It's entirely up to you to pick and choose what works for you and how far you're willing to go (as well as what your account can handle at the moment).

#1 Essential: Scholar Collar

Doubles the effectiveness of in-kennel training sessions used on your dogs. Available at the Cash Boutique for $400,000. You can probably get it cheaper (or even for free if there's a generous user around) if you put up an advertisement for it. Most users only ever need one, so they won't mind letting go of any spares for less.

#2 Essential: Trainer's Perk

Also doubles the effectiveness of your training sessions when doing in-kennel training. It stacks with the Scholar Collar making each session four times as effective per use.

#3 Essential, Pick One: An Energy Companion

Several companions can regenerate your dog's energy every 30 minutes. Some give more energy than others, but the saying goes: One companion is better than none, so pick what you can get within your budget and look to upgrade in the future. You can only equip one companion at a time to a dog, so quality does make a difference.

List of Energy Companions

There are energy companions such as Peacocks and Hybrid companions, but they cost a lot more and don't give out as much energy as the ones I am going to list here. Still, if you're interested in finding out more about them, the issue hub is the place to go. I will be listing ones that are at least +2 energy or within the affordable range.

Skunks:

They give +2 energy every 30 minutes and rank among the easiest/cheapest companions to get a hold of. Types of skunks include: Albino Striped Skunk, Apricot Swirl Striped Skunk, Black Striped Skunk, Hog Nosed Skunk, Chocolate Chip Striped Skunk, Spotted Skunk.

(Images are listed in their respective order.)

Dinosaurs

Hey, an upgrade! +3 energy every half an hour for these. They're usually your next option after you graduated from skunks. They're also more expensive. Types of dinosaurs: Microraptor, Young Dilophosaurus, Bambiraptor, Velociraptor, Deinonychus.

(Images are listed in their respective order.)

The Baby Tyrannosaurus Rex doesn't count in the above, because it was a donation only item where you had to spend a certain amount of real money to get. This means they're rarer, but it also gives more energy (+5 energy).

Norse Mythology

Hey! It's... not an upgrade, no. It's another set of +3 energy companions, but different theme and you might find it worth looking to if there's one cheaper than your dinosaur selection. A few companions: Young Sleipnir, Ratatoskr, Nidhogg, Jormungandr, Fenrir.

(Images are listed in their respective order.)

Skoll and Hati is the same as the Baby Tyrannosaurus Rex in that they were a donation item. It does give +6 energy every 30 minutes, but not really practical to buy unless you have money to burn. Reason being that they're limited in number and won't be available again to the public.

Misc. Companions

These were donation-only (donate a certain amount of real money in exchange for bones + companion a bonus gift). The site has been known in the past to put some of them up for sale again, but it's not a guaranteed thing. They are some of your best energy-producing companions out there though.

+10 Energy Companions:

These leopards give the most energy per 30 minute rollover than any other companion on the site. They are also the rarest and most difficult to get a hold of. Users don't normally sell them unless it's for real money. Leopards: Amur Leopard, Black Amur Leopard, Lounging Snow Leopard.

+6 Energy Companion: Skoll and Hati

+5 Energy Companions: Arctic Fox and Baby Tyrannosaurus.

"Stackable" Companions: These guys double your food benefits. So normally you'd get +10 energy from a can of Agility Affair. With these companions equipped, that's +20 energy every feeding time. They're best used by keeping an energy companion equipped to your dog, then swapping it out when it comes to feeding time. This way you get both the benefits of your main energy companion +20 extra energy in feeding on top of that. Companions: Chihuahua Cerberus and
Savage Werewolf

Fenghuang is a unique companion that gives +20 energy every 4 hour rollover (they occur at 12:15, 4:15 and 8:15 both am and pm Alacrity time every day upon logging in). Which means you can use your main energy companion, swap for your "food companion" when feeding then change to Fenghuang before 12:15/4:15/8:15 for even more energy. I consider it a "stackable" companion.

Accessories

Aside from the Scholar Collar, what else is there? There's this rare donation item, which falls under the same category of "really hard to get a hold of". The Rejuvenator. It doubles the effects of your health, mood and most importantly, energy companions when equipped. Amur Leopard will give +20 energy per rollover instead of +10. Dinosaurs/Norse mythology +6 instead of +3 and so on.

Food/Grooming

Agility Affair Chow (+10 energy and cheap) and Fish Oils (+10 energy) are the only two food items you'll ever really need, realistically speaking.

It's worth noting that fish oil doesn't actually count as a "food". You can still feed it to your dog even if it's not hungry, but the catch is you can only use it three times a day. Still a free +30 energy a day, however!

Grooming

Soapy Bath Tub is one of those strange items that you can only use on a dog when it has slightly lower health. It doesn't work on 100% healthy dogs, in general the best time to use this is as soon as you log on when your dogs are at 90 health.

Training Sessions
Step one? Buy ALL of your training sessions in Alacrity cash until it no longer allows you. After this, if you're looking to upgrade, now is the time. This not only gives you more dog slots and therefore training sessions, it allows you to buy MORE slots in cash.

You can get Trainer's perk at any time, it'll give you +20 Training sessions every day. It doesn't affect dog slots, so it won't end up costing you more if you buy for cash.

After this you'll be relying on bones for more slots/sessions. You can usually find some in the bone auctions from users.

Granted, you'll still be able to buy a few slots whenever you re-upgrade, but it'll be more expensive. You can get an idea of how it works here under "Dog Slots."

There are companions that give you free training sessions daily, but they're more expensive than just flat out buying a bone in the bone auctions and getting a proper slot.

Anyway, happy training. Feel free to add more companions on if I've missed them.
